WARTON, UK (BNS): BAE Systems has rolled out the first Eurofighter Typhoon and Hawk advanced jet trainer aircraft for the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO).

The two platforms were formally presented during a ceremony at BAE's Warton facility in Lancashire on May 14 in the presence of Oman's Defence Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidi, and the Commander of RAFO, Air Vice-Marshal Mattar bin Ali bin Mattar Al Obaidani, among others.

The Sultanate of Oman had awarded a contract worth £2.5 billion to BAE Systems in December 2012 for the acquisition of 12 Eurofighter Typhoons and eight Hawk AJTs.

Deliveries of the first aircraft are due to begin later this year, BAE Systems said.
