An M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle kicks up plumes of dust as it leaves Forward Operating Base MacKenzie in Iraq for a mission on Oct. 30, 2004.
YORK, PENNSYLVANIA (BNS): BAE Systems said Wednesday it won an additional $41 million US Army contract order to purchase parts for the upgrade of 101 Bradley fighting vehicles for the Pentagon.
The contract was awarded by US Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command.
Under this contract, BAE Systems will continue to purchase 101 kits of long-lead items and additional parts in preparation for the reset of Bradley ODS SA vehicles. The company will use the acquired items in restoring the Bradleys to pre-combat condition and upgrading them to the improved situational awareness capability.
"The procurement of these situational awareness parts will provide our soldiers with a modernized vehicle that will help to protect them and aid in performing successful missions," Joe McCarthy, vice president and general manager of the Heavy Brigade Combat Team Systems for BAE Systems, was quoted as saying in the company news release.
The contract provides the balance of funding for a $74 million contract that the company won in December 2009, and raises the value of the final deal to $115 million, BAE Systems added.
BAE Systems designs, manufactures and supports Bradley Fighting Vehicles through its U.S. Combat Systems business.
