HANUMANGARH, RAJASTHAN (PTI): Indian Army chief Gen V K Singh has said the issues relating to the defence sector that have come up recently were "complicated" and solutions to them have to be found within the parameters of transparency.
Singh, who witnessed the Armed Forces war games 'Shoorveer' here, said, issues related to the defence sector were complicated and their solutions were not so easy.
He was asked by reporters to comment on alleged corruption in procurements and lack of ammunition in the Army.
"The entire issue is very complicated. Solutions have to be found within the parameters of transparency and I am quite sure that the process has started and it will clean up whatever is happening," he said.
"As far as the Army is concerned, if any battle happens, the Army will fight with full enthusiasm, zeal and with whatever resources it has. We want...and Standing Committee of the Parliament is also of the view that the Army should get adequate quantity of arms and ammunition the force requires," he said.
Singh said that he was quite happy with his tenure as the Army Chief and had been able to implement his vision. However, he did not disclose his post-retirement plans. He will be superannuating at the end of this month.
"Everyone comes with his own thought. I also had and I am happy that many of them were implemented and fulfilled," he said.
Asked whether he plans to join politics after retirement, he said he himself has no idea.
About the Armed Forces exercise, he said he was satisfied with the preparedness of the South Western Command. "It was the biggest exercise under the SW Command and new things have been done in the exercise. It provides a good opportunity to fine-tune war concepts."
Lt. Gen. Gyan Bhushan, Army Commander, South Western Command, said that 'Chetak' and 'Strike-1' corps participated in the excercise which is the biggest exercise of the SW command since its raising in 2005.
He said that advanced communication and surveillance technologies were used in the synergetic operation of joint forces.
"The exercise was successful and moral of the troops is extremely high despite heat in the desert area," he said.
