JAMMU (PTI): The Army Ordnance Corps (AOC) on Monday celebrated its 238th Raising Day at northern command in Udhampur, about 65-kms from here.
AOC celebrated the day to commemorate its raising as the "Board of Ordnance" in 1775. The Corps is entrusted with the onerous task of managing a large and complex inventory and providing logistic support to the Army, a defence spokesman said here.
On this auspicious occasion, GOC-in-C Northern Command, Lt Gen K T Parnaik, extended his greetings to all ranks, civilians and families of the Corps and lauded their professionalism, dedication and committed efforts to provide effective logistic support to the equipment intensive Field Army across a wide spectrum.
