NEW DELHI (PTI): Indian Defence Minister A K Antony has reviewed the security situation along the country's borders and in the neighbourhood at a meeting with the top security brass.
The hour-long meeting held in South Block was attended by National Security Adviser Shiv Shankar Menon, Army Chief General Bikram Singh, Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma, IAF Chief N A K Browne and Defence Secretary Shashikant Sharma, Defence Ministry officials said.
During the meeting, the Defence Minister was updated on the prevailing security situation along the country's frontiers and in the neighbourhood, they said.
A meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had last month had reviewed the preparedness of the country's nuclear command structure
During that meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed about the overall security scenario and the readiness of the defence forces.
