SACRAMENTO (BNS): Aerojet has received two contracts for the maturation of advanced technologies for Upper Stage and Divert and Attitude Control System propulsion elements of the Standard Missile Blk IIB Interceptor.
The contract is a part of an Early Intercept Defence Phase of the European Phased Adaptive Approach for the US Missile Defence Agency (MDA).
According to the company, its technologies will be used in the upper stage propulsion and for the Kill Vehicle Divert and Attitude Controls.
"Aerojet is excited to develop these technologies and provide affordable, high-performance propulsion to the Missile Defense Agency," Aerojet's Executive Director, Business Development, Peter Massey, said.
Under these contracts, Aerojet will identify key propulsion technologies, define and conceptualise propulsion components, and will conduct limited testing to provide characterisation data.
