AIAA to honour Chandrayaan-1 team with award


India's first mission to moon Chandryaan-1

NEW DELHI (BNS): ISRO’s Chandrayaan-1 mission has been selected for “AIAA 2009 Space Systems” award for its “outstanding accomplishments.”

The award will be presented on September 16 at Pasadena in California, by American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), which recognize key contributions to space science and technology.

AIAA is the US representative on the International Astronautical Federation and the International Council on the Aeronautical Sciences.

Mylswamy Annadural, project director ISRO headquarters, will receive the award which is being honoured for its “outstanding accomplishments in the design, development, launch and operations of India’s first scientific mission, Chandrayaan-1, operating beyond earth’s orbit,” an AIAA press release said.
