BIKANER (PTI): Army Chief General Dalbir Singh on Wednesday presented the President's Standards to 44 Armoured Regiment amidst full military regalia at Suratgarh military station in Srigangangar district in Rajasthan.
Addressing the function, Singh said that it was a historic moment for the Regiment that the President's Standard was bestowed upon the frontline regiment.
The 44 Armoured Regiment, raised on 15 December 1981, has participated in a large number of operations undertaken by the Army.
A formation of roaring tanks paraded amidst an exhilarating audience. The Parade was commanded by Col Arjun Uppal, Commandant 44 Armoured Regiment, the defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Ojha said.
To commemorate this historic event, the Chief of the Army Staff also released a 'Special Day Cover'.
The ceremony was also graced by South Western Army Commander Lt Gen Arun Kumar Sahni and a number of senior officers and civil dignitaries.
