JAIPUR (PTI): As part of fly-past ceremony on Republic Day, 15 aircraft, including air superiority fighter Su-30 MKI, will take off from airbases in Rajasthan to create various formations at Rajpath in New Delhi.
These planes will fly out from Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and NAL (Bikaner) airbases to take part in the fly-past, defence spokesperson Col S D Goswami said.
While a C-17 Globemaster and six Su-30 MKIs would fly out from the Jodhpur airbase, three C-130 J (VIC formation) and five Jaguars (Arrow Head Formation) would fly out from Jaisalmer and Nal (Bikaner) airbases respectively, he said.
Three Sukhoi Su-30MKI aircraft, flying from Jodhpur airbase, will converge in the skies to form a trident.
The fly past will begin with three attack helicopters crossing over Rajpath, followed by newly acquired C-17 Globemaster Military transport aircraft and Dorneir planes, AN-32 cargo aircraft, and Jaguars zipping over Raisina Hills, the spokesperson said.
Army Aviation Corps' helicopters will also participate in the function, Goswami said.
IAF's latest acquisition, Lockheed Martin C-130J transport aircraft, will be part of the fly past over Rajpath.
This will be followed by fighter jets such as Jaguars, Mig-29s and Su-30s.
A vertical Charlie manoeuvre by a single Su-30MKI spiraling upwards will signal the close of the proceedings.
"A Sukhoi SU-30 will carry out its spell-binding signature Vertical Charlie" manoeuvre - pulling up into the wild blue yonder - at the end of the flypast," he said.
