ISRO to have its own 'Google Earth'

AHMEDABAD (BNS): Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will soon launch 'Bhuvan' on the lines of Google Earth, which will provide online maps based on Geographical Information System (GIS).
Addressing the 28th INCA International Congress on Collaborative Mapping and Space Technology in Gandhinagar in Gujarat on Tuesday, ISRO Chairman, G Madhavan Nair said, the organisation was planning to launch 'Bhuvan', which is equivalent to the Google Earth but is going to be much more precise.
Nair said 'Bhuvan' will provide the latest information on the country's natural resources. "We are going to provide very accurate maps of the region with the latest picture. This will be more beneficial for the people of the country.''
The service would commence in the next six months mapping the entire Earth, both in terms of the upper land surface and the exotic minerals providing valuable and updated information to the people, Nair said.
Talking about the country's first unmanned lunar spacecraft, Chandrayaan-1, Nair said it had completed its last orbit raising manoeuvre on Tuesday. He said that the spacecraft would enter the lunar transfer trajectory and start circling the moon by November 8.
