MOSCOW (BNS): Iraq will receive 10 Mi-28NE Night Hunter attack helicopters from Russia under a multi-billion dollar agreement signed by the two countries, a news report said.

Russia and Iraq have signed a $4.3 billion agreement on cooperation in defence and technology sector in 2012, according to a Ria Novosti report.

This is the first contract with Iraq under the package agreement and the first time that the number of Night Hunters has been revealed.

The contract covers pilot and technical personnel training and delivery of essential weapons systems, the report quoted, deputy general director Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheyev, as saying.

The Mi-28N Night Hunter is designed for both day and night combat missions. The helicopter is fitted with an integrated avionics suite that allows NOE flight on auto-pilot at night and in adverse conditions.
